Make the most of your Iceland visit and book your Fossavatnsgangan travel adventure with Wild Westfjords - the event's official travel agency!

Fossavatnsgangan Package 2022 (8 days, 7 nights) - Description:

We offer the unbeatable combination of nature sightseeing with comfortable hotel accommodation along the way, including in downtown Isafjordur during the days of the event.

The Fossavatn skiing races take place in the extraordinary town of Isafjordur. With a population of only 2600 people, it is the largest settlement in the wild and remote Westfjords region, and in fact the largest town in the entire Northwestern part of Iceland - the next larger town is a 4-5 hour drive away and therefore Isafjordur remains an important commercial hub despite it's small size.
At a 500km driving distance from Iceland's KEF international airport, the journey to and from Isafjordur will always be an important part of your Fossavatnsgangan experience. That's where we come in!

Our 2022 package has been organised as an exciting 8 day / 7 night Iceland program which combines a 4-night stay in Isafjordur with some of the most unique places and experiences along The Westfjords Way. It's how we would travel to the event ourselves, if we knew all the places we do but had never seen them before!

Note that it is also possible to book a customised version of the package - including self-drive, domestic flights, a completely different itinerary, an extension, a road trip all around Iceland - just ask us!

Availability in Isafjordur is very limited during the Fossavatnsgangan weekend so we strongly recommend booking your package well in advance.

Fossavatnsgangan Package 2022 (8 days, 7 nights) - Itinerary:

28th March - Arrival in Iceland (Keflavik international airport). Stay one night in Reykjavik.
29th March - Day 1 of sightseeing tour. Visit Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls, take a short hike along the Grabrok crater, and traverse through the Dalir valleys region. Stay overnight in a country hotel overlooking the islands of Breidafjordur bay, the perfect backdrop for an evening northern lights walk or even off-track skiing practice (depending on aurora activity, weather and snow).
30th March - Day 2 of sightseeing tour. Follow the stunning coastline of northern Breidafjordur bay. Drive over the Dynjandisheidi heath, then hike up to and admire the spectacular Dynjandi waterfall in it's winter cloak. Reach Isafjordur in the early evening. Stay four nights at Hotel Horn in Isafjordur.
31st March to 2nd April: Free days for preparing and participating in the Fossavatnsgangan races.
3rd April - One-day sightseeing tour between Isafjordur and Reykjavik. This time take a different (and more direct) route than the earlier 2-day tour. We visit two more places on the Westfjords Way: the cozy Litlibaer farm for delicious Iceland-style waffles, and then the Reykjanes geothermal pool for a relaxing swim. Afterwards continue straight to Reykjavik and stay one night.
4th April - Departure from Iceland (Keflavik international airport).
