Hesteyri is situated on the gorgeous peninsula of Hornstrandir. Enjoy a picturesque one hour boat ride from Bolungarvik to this abandoned village. There are various different options of how you can spend your time there, according to your interests and liking.

Visitors can explore old 19th-century houses and the Whale Station. You can go on short hikes around, you might get lucky to spot a resident fox family that lives there or spend time at the beach and enjoy the views of the fjords from ashore.

The cafe at the Doctor’s House is a lovely quaint place to relax and enjoy freshly baked pancakes and coffee.
