This tour very beginner friendly and is suitable for families. Our guides will be there to help you every step of the way. The mountain bike trail is easy to ‘mix and match’ meaning we can include or avoid certain sections depending on ability.
The journey begins at our base in Mavagardur C (grey building), where you meet your guide and gear up. We then walk down to the shore behind the old houses in Nedstikaupstadur, where we have a short safety briefing and paddling lesson.
And then we’re off! We explore the fjord keeping a good lookout for various bird species and seals.
Enjoy paddling along this easy route under the towering mountains which surround the fjord, and see our wonderful town from a unique perspective.
The views across the water are stunning and on a clear day we’ll see across the ocean to the snowy mountains of the Snaefjallastrond coastline.
We spend approximately 2 hours on the water before heading back to our base in Mavagardur C.
We take a break for lunch before donning our helmets and hitting the trail. We start biking up the main street of the town, Adalstraeti. We bike up towards the mountains and the first slope that leads us to the avalanche barrier. We sneak behind the towering walls and bike along the backside, popping back out to continue along the base of the mountain.
We continue along flowing single track towards the forest in Tungudalur where we find the marvellous Buna river and waterfall. For a great view over the fjord, we bike across the valley towards the final avalanche barrier. The short and slightly steep climb up the barrier is well worth the view. From here on it’s easy ride back into town.
